<p>The annual <a href="http://ciprprideawards.com/default.aspx" target="_blank" onclick="pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/ciprprideawards.com/default.aspx?referer=');">PRide Awards</a>, led by the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) – the professional body for the PR industry – recognise outstanding success and achievement. Reaching the shortlist in the <strong>‘Best Website or Microsite’ category </strong>means that Loud’s work has been judged to be among the best in the Thames and Chiltern region by leading PR experts.</p>
<p><span id="more-103"></span><strong>Ann Mealor, CIPR Acting Director General said:</strong> “This year more than ever, consultancies and organisations entering the PRide Awards want to spotlight their achievements while boosting morale – and being a PRide finalist does just that. Having gone through rigorous judging to reach the shortlist is a great achievement and I offer my congratulations to all those who have reached this stage of the competition.”</p>
<p>The PRide Awards is the only awards scheme which showcases the best PR work being carried out across the UK regions. Loud will attend a presentation dinner in November where the winners will be announced.</p>

<p>The Future is Oblong campaign began with an online initiative to encourage discussion on how round objects would be so much better if they were oblong. Mysterious oblong messages on <a href="http://twitter.com/Futureisoblong" target="_blank" onclick="pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/twitter.com/Futureisoblong?referer=');">twitter</a> and the <a href="http://www.thefutureisoblong.com/" target="_blank" onclick="pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/www.thefutureisoblong.com/?referer=');">website</a> hinted there was something more to come, before it morphed into its &#8216;oblong jaffa cake&#8217; phase.</p>
<p>Bahlsen Messino Jaffa Cakes were re-packaged in uniquely designed oblong packaging and mailed to on and offline media and high profile celebrities, as well as Jaffa Cake voices on Twitter and Facebook (for example <a href="http://twitter.com/iaindale/status/3861886771" target="_blank" onclick="pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/twitter.com/iaindale/status/3861886771?referer=');">Twitter</a>, <a href="http://www.madnessoftheworld.com/?p=759" target="_blank" onclick="pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/www.madnessoftheworld.com/?p=759&amp;referer=');">blogs</a> and <a href="http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1212218/The-Jaffa-Cake-goes-oblong.html" target="_blank" onclick="pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1212218/The-Jaffa-Cake-goes-oblong.html?referer=');">national</a> <a href="http://www.telegraph.co.uk/foodanddrink/foodanddrinknews/6166963/Oblong-Jaffa-Cakes-mount-challenge-to-round-snacks.html" target="_blank" onclick="pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/www.telegraph.co.uk/foodanddrink/foodanddrinknews/6166963/Oblong-Jaffa-Cakes-mount-challenge-to-round-snacks.html?referer=');">newspapers</a>). By the time it was revealed that Bahlsen was behind the campaign, the Round versus Oblong Jaffa Cake war had begun. National newspapers and radio stations and Jaffa Cake fans are talking about the tasty oblong treats.</p>

<p>The campaign is now in its &#8216;Take the Taste Test&#8217; stage. Radio stations across the country are challenging listeners to make their choice &#8211; Round or Oblong. Crazy Oblong Jaffa Cake-costumed characters are appearing at major shopping centres to give shoppers the chance to taste the difference.</p>
<p>There is no doubt that the campaign is a success and equally, there is no doubt that the future is turning oblong!</p>

In addition to traditional media and broadcast campaigns, we also developed highly effective ongoing activity, using social networking channels including the design, development and management of The DeafBlog.</p>

<p>Our activity resulted in extensive print coverage, including front page national stories, as well as high-profile national and regional TV interviews, and coverage in consumer magazines. <h2>The Loud solution</h2>
<p>Word of mouth and social media are hot topics in the media. Loud&#8217;s task was to fulfil the media need for relevant stories, while promoting greater understanding of 1000heads&#8217; unique and visionary approach. PR activity focused on producing engaging and readable case studies, facilitating one-two-one interviews with key media, building strong links with the major publications, and using comments on topical news items to present 1000heads spokespeople to a wider audience.</p>
<h2>The outcome</h2>
<p>Loud&#8217;s PR activity has delivered extensive coverage for 1000heads in trade publications such as Marketing Week, PR Week, The Marketer, Retail Week and New Media Age, as well as other major media such as The Grocer and the Evening Standard. PR support following the company&#8217;s WOMMA award in 2008 led to heightened levels of media interest in the company, which Loud was able to capitalise on for them. Webinars are another important PR tool for 1000heads; a webinar opportunity identified, secured and managed by Loud was ‘attended&#8217; by more than 60 online delegates.</p>
